A Message From KFCR
Over the past few weeks many of you may have discovered that yes, indeed, Kentucky has College Republicans. We traveled around to campuses across the state getting the word out and we are not done yet. However, the reason you are getting this email is because you showed initiative and want to be engaged in the discussion that thousands of College Republican chapters are having with their members all across the country.
The Kentucky Federation of College Republicans is a statewide organization that works to help make your guys’ jobs a little easier. First and foremost, you are all full time students and many of you have part time jobs. That’s why we are here. The state federation provides information, resources and organizational tools to your chapter leadership to help make your College Republican experience better. This state is no stranger to College Republicans and we are working to help continue that rich legacy that has been laid before us.
In 1967, Kentucky elected its first Republican governor in over twenty years, Louie B. Nunn. That year a young man by the name of Morton Blackwell, who now heads up the conservative think tank the Leadership Institute, was stationed in Kentucky as a field representative from our national affiliate, the College Republican National Committee. As a college organizer, Blackwell organized over 5,000 college student volunteers and helped drop nearly 93,000 pieces of literature. Governor Nunn and the New York Times later credited Blackwell and the volunteers he recruited as vital to Nunn’s success during his election that year.
You have that same opportunity and now, more than ever, your dedicated commitment to free market principles and limited government need to be heard. This country is under attack by exponential government growth and over reaching bureaucracies that continue to kill jobs right here in the Commonwealth. So we must ask the question, where is the leadership?
Where has our good friend, Attorney General Jack Conway been while the EPA invades and destroys the very jobs that have put food on the tables of thousands of families across this state? On the sidelines, campaigning for Barack Obama and his failed policies.
Where has Governor Beshear been while our unfunded liabilities in Medicaid continue and put more debt on every Kentuckians back each and every day? Traveling the state, touting how he has sold government jets and ignoring the issue altogether.
It is failed leadership that’s plaguing this country and this Commonwealth. With your help, we can restore sane policies back to Frankfort and elect real leaders to move this state forward and create a better working environment to benefit our futures. I encourage you all to stay engaged and involved in your chapters and help us take back Kentucky.
Sincerely,
Brian Rose
Chairman, Kentucky Federation of College Republicans
